Novel pathogens: donning & doffing PPE for aerosol-generating procedures

COVID-19 moves from person-to-person via droplets (sneezing and coughing) and contact with surfaces that have become contaminated with someone who is infected. As of March 12, 2020, we have moved to droplet and contact precautions for suspected and confirmed cases of COVID-19. The best protection for health-care workers is the use of a surgical mask, eye protection, full sleeved gown, and gloves. An N95 respirator, as shown in this video, should only be used when performing an aerosol-generating medical procedure such as an intubation or CPR, for example.
