Courses: 

Course 100 – The First Nations Health Landscape (January 31 to April 18. Classes held weekly on Tuesdays at 1pm EST)

The key topics of this course are: the health environment, history and health, culture and health, health governance, determinants of health, epidemiology, public health, partnerships, current and future.

 

Course 200 – High Performing Strategic Organizations (January 25 to April 12.  Classes held weekly on Wednesdays at 1pm EST)

The key topics of this course are: cultural competency in leadership, courageous leadership, organizational culture, effective teams, creating, implementing and evaluating a strategic plan, performance measurement, working with change, policies.

 

Course 300 – Effective Programs and Services (January 31 to April 18.  Classes held weekly on Tuesdays at 3pm EST)

The key topics of this course are: cultural competency – working with community, community engagement, developing, implementing, and evaluating programs and services, emergency planning, continuous quality improvement, managing risk, advocacy and partnerships, innovation and wise practices, communicating organization progress.

 

Course 400 – Efficient Organizations (January 25 to April 12. Classes held weekly on Wednesdays at 3pm EST)

The key topics of this course are: cultural competency in action, human resources – the people and the practices, dispute resolution, effective meetings, financial management, funding proposals and reporting, information management, knowledge management, negotiations. 

 

Course 500 – The Professional First Nation Health Manager  (Session held during spring programming only) 

The key topics of this course are: cultural competency in ourselves, professionalism, personal ethics, continuous learning, self care, final project.

 

Course length: 12 weeks

Course cost: $1800 members, $2250 non-members (+applicable taxes)
